1) Cable tapping function. There are multiple small-area cables on a relatively long line that often cause waste of cable use. Then, when approaching the load, a cable branch box is used to divide the trunk cable into several small-area cables, and the load is connected by the small-area cable. Such wiring methods are widely used for power supply of street lights and other power supply in urban power grids and small users.
2) Cable adaptation function. On a relatively long line, if the length of the cable cannot meet the requirements of the line, a cable connector or cable adapter box must be used. Usually, in a short distance, when the line is relatively long, according to experience, if there are more indirect connectors in the middle of the cable, in order to ensure safety, the cable branch box will be considered for adaptation.
Cable branch boxes are widely used outdoors. With the advancement of technology, cable branch boxes with switches are now increasing. Urban cables often use dual-loop power supply. Therefore, some people directly call branch boxes with switches outdoor ring network cabinets, but most of such ring network cabinets cannot achieve distribution network automation at present, but manufacturers have launched outdoor ring network cabinets that can be distributed automation.
